Google, a household name around the world, is a leading giant in the tech industry and it's not doubt the favorite and easiest tool for many people round the globe.

Google has evolved to a stage where it is now part of our daily lifes, with over 1 million searches daily on its famous search engine.

This indicates that majority of us depend solely on Google for our daily internet need, ranging from our personal needs to business and the rest, this "Four Colored" tech giant is really an amazing organization and here are facts about GOOGLE that will make you go "wow".

  1. Google was first named "Backrub" by the founders. Backrub as a name came up because Google was based on ranking pages and system finding using backlinks.
  2. Google as a name was actually a misspelling. Story had it that an investor misspelled the mathematical term "googol" as "google" on a check, and the name has never changed afterwards. Who knows what might have happened if we had "googol" instead of "google"?
  3. Google actually started it's company in a rented garage, with ten 4GB hard drives as storage devices all housed in a LEGO casing. This design however wws useful as it made adding more storage devices with less hassle. Google now has over 100 million GB of data.
  4. The homepage is known for its sparse design. Google homepage has always been sparingly designed and this is because the founders wanted a simple interface and didn't know HTML. Isn't that hilarious.
  5. Google rents 200 goats to eat the weed and brush around the headquarters. This is part of their contribution to reducing carbon footprint and carbon emissions.
  6. Google employees are called "Googlers", while new employees are called "Nooglers".
  7. Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page met by chance. They met at Stanford when Brin was asked to show Page round the school as Page was a new student. What if they never met? Would we have had Google today?
  8. Google has a very cool feature that you can use to explore and view the stars, constellations, galaxies and planets. It's called "Google Sky Map".
